Three unmissable stops on the street art trail
The port silos, San Berillo District, the centre and Librino: the truest Catania in three stops.

All issuesWalking through Catania means crossing a visual route where urban art, history and popular spirit run together. Here are three places to start.
The port silos. Along the waterfront, eight industrial silos were painted in 2015 during the Emergence Festival by international artists — Vhils among them — with Greek myths and Sicilian legends. A collective work that turns industrial architecture into visual storytelling.
San Berillo. A district coming back to life, where abandoned buildings, shutters and narrow alleys fill up with murals dedicated to women, to myth and to urban resilience. Art here does not decorate: it lives.
The centre and Librino. In the centre, works on doors, staircases and hidden corners you find by walking. In Librino — a district many avoid and few know — there are large murals on apartment blocks with social themes, and the Porta della Bellezza from the Fiumara d’Arte project: the largest terracotta sculpture in the world.
This is not street art passing through. Every work is tied to the district that holds it, made to say something about its identity. There is a civic dimension behind each brushstroke.
