It is called Digital Detox, and something is happening. We no longer feel safe being connected every second of the day.

Perhaps a faint tiredness has crept in between the keys, between the messages, between the notifications.

And slowly, almost without noticing, a wish to breathe appears.

In 2026 it is no longer a trend: it is a necessity. Digital dependence is real, recognised, widespread. And like every dependence, it is not beaten by willpower: it is worked through step by step, with awareness.

In Catania, a group of young people found a solution that is both simple and radical. Evenings where the phone does not come in. Not allowed. You leave it outside the door and you stay — with the others, with yourself, with the moment as it happens.

It is called TAKEABREATH. It works because it does not ask you to change your life: it only asks you to put the screen down

for a few hours.

For a lot of people, it feels like getting their breath back.
